Training Visa (Subclass 407)
If you have just finished your studies back home or do not have enough experience to be eligible for a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa or general Skilled Migration (GSM), the Training visa Subclass 407 may be a good solution.
Unlike the TSS visa, it is not essential to have employment experience to qualify for the Training visa. If you are newly qualified in your industry, the Training visa may be the perfect opportunity to gain valuable work experience in Australia.
To qualify for this visa, you must evidence 12 months full-time, relevant experience, completed in the 24 months before you apply – this can include study experience. Part time experience may be included on a pro-rata basis (i.e 2 years part-time is equivalent to one year full-time).
The most important aspect of the visa is the development of an individual training plan. This Training plan must be tailormade for each candidate. The plan must identify the skills that you have already obtained and how the proposed training will enhance these particular skills in your selected occupation.
The Training visa can be granted for up to 2 years. The period of approval will be determined based on the period outlined in the training plan and the genuine need for training.
Once approved, you will only be allowed to be engaged in a training capacity with the nominating employer. Family members may be included in the application and partners would have work rights of up to 20 hours per week.
The visa application costs A$310 for the main applicant
