Tourist Visas

If you wish to visit Australia for a holiday, to see family and friends, or to improve your English over the school holidays, you can apply for a tourist visa.

There are 3 different tourist visas available with various obligations attached to it. With any tourist visa, you can study for up to 3 months in Australia, but you will not be allowed to work for the duration of your stay.

 

  • eVisitor (Subclass 651), free online application
    • For passport holders from eligible countries only
    • Allows you to stay in Australia for up to 3 months
    • As soon as the visa is approved, you have one year to go to Australia with it
    • You have to apply offshore
    • You can travel in and out of Australia as many times as you want over the three-month period

 

  • Electronic travel Authority (Subclass 601), free online application
    • For passport holders from eligible countries only
    • Allows you to stay in Australia for up to 3 months
    • As soon as the visa is approved, you have one year to go to Australia with it
    • You have to apply offshore
    • You can travel in and out of Australia as many times as you want over the three-month period

 

  • Visitor visa (Subclass 600), from A$145 if offshore, A$365 if onshore
    • Allows you to stay in Australia for 3, 6 or 12 months
    • As soon as the visa is approved, you have one year to go to Australia with it
    • You can apply onshore or offshore
